Mint Bars

Ingredients

Devils Food Cake Mix
1 egg
1/3 cup margarine
Filling:
1 package unflavored gelatin
1/4 cup boiling water
4 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup margarine softened
1/2 cup shortening
2 teaspoons peppermint extract
food coloring
1 cup chocolate chips
3 Tablespoons shortening

Directions

Mix together cake mix, egg and 1/3 cup margarine. Press mixture in a greased 9x13 pan; bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Cool completely. Mix together gelatin, powdered sugar, boiliing water, 1/2 cup margarine, 1/2 cup shortening and peppermint extract. Mix well, and add food coloring. Spread over cooled cake. Melt chocolate chips and shortening, spread over mint mixture. Refrigerate.
