Fried Dough

Ingredients

1 cup water
1 jigger cognac
2 Tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup cake flour
2 cups cooking oil


Directions

Combine water, salt, and cognac. Bring to a boil. Remove from burner and add flour all at one time, and mix vigorously. Return to stove and continue mixing until somewhat hard. Pour olive oil on a pastry boad, place dough on it, and let cool. Roll dough, fold over, and roll again. Continue process until oil is absorbed and dough is elastic. Shape dough into long rope the tickness of a finger. Porm into rings and fry a few at a time in hot oil, cooking until golden brown and crisp. Drain and sprinkle with sugar or cinnamon.
